Iyengar Yoga Weekend Retreat Friday 5th February 6pm - Sunday 7th February 12pm
Brighten your winter, deepen your yoga practice and nourish your soul with this weekend yoga retreat in the Sussex countryside. Bring friends or come alone - we aim to give a warm welcome and create a relaxed and friendly weekend for you. Based at the newly and beautifully renovated Wickenden Farm, we will explore the myth of the Churning of the Oceans and discover its relevance to our yoga practice. Yoga classes will take place at Hanuman Yoga Studio, a half hour walk across the fields or a 5 minute drive away, with the possibility of evening pranayama taking place in the large living rooms at Wickenden Farm for your ultimate relaxation. Maria Zourari will bring the myth to life with her storytelling on Friday and Saturday evenings and brunch and dinner will be provided from Friday evening to Sunday morning.
Sarah Delfas and Zoe Reason are both experienced Iyengar yoga teachers who share a love of the myths and stories that bring light and life to our yoga. Students of Prashant Iyengar and Rajiv and Swati Chanchani, they both seek to teach informed by the associated mind, body and breath and the transformative effect this has. While they take their yoga practice very seriously they also look to bring light, compassion and humour to their teaching. BKS Iyengar said "Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self." We are all on this journey and we want this workshop to play a part in helping you along your way.
Wickenden Farm offers comfortable and fresh double bedrooms, all with their own ensuite bathroom (mostly showers). Just south of East Grinstead with far reaching views towards the South Downs, it is a base for the Children’s Forest movement to support children and their communities to reconnect with nature and plant forests for the future generations. In summer the house is surrounded by wildflower fields. Enjoy a walk through unspoiled woods to experience fresh air and the peace offered by nature, venture further afield along the Sussex Border Path which is adjacent to the farm, or just enjoy the views through the window after class and during mealtimes. Meals will be vegetarian and organic where possible, sourced from local organic and biodynamic farms. The living areas are spacious, cosy and comfortable, inviting you just to settle in and relax when not in class. Outside is a swimming pond and hot tub.
Hanuman Yoga Studio is close by and is an established and fully equipped Iyengar yoga studio.
